Mercer prepares for Community Baby Shower over Mother’s Day Weekend

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – For the first time since the pandemic, the Mercer Family Resource Center will be hosting an in-person community baby shower on Saturday, May 7.

The event is free for families that are expecting a baby or who have children up to three years old. The Mercer has prepared bags with fliers, goodies, and additional items for the first 200 families at the baby shower.

There will be giveaways of a variety of baby and toddler items as well as prizes that can be won at different booths that will be set up around the Boys and Girls Club gyms.

Local service providers will be at the event to engage, give information, and connect parents to a variety of resources. The hopes to provide a space where parents can find support and learn about child development and family well-being.

“There will be information on parenting classes different pediatricians OBGYNs pretty much we cover everything in one way or another we’ll also have mom support groups,” said Mercer Family and Parenting Specialist Anna La Torre.

This year, the Mercer is adding a Daddy Den space at the event where dads can gather and find community with others who are preparing for fatherhood or are new fathers. Casper Police Officers will be competing against others in the Daddy Den in a diaper changing challenge during the event.

The Community Baby Shower will be held at the Boys and Girls Club of Central Wyoming, 1701 E K Street. The event will start at 10 a.m. and last until 12 p.m.
