In 2015, four women with a vision, Jill Jones and daughters, Kelly, Lindsay, and Abby, opened an online boutique featuring upscale children’s clothing at affordable prices. Little did they know, six years later, they would be opening a store front in the historic brick building previously occupied by Market Square and once featured in the major motion picture, Forrest Gump.
Upon walking in the store’s front doors, you are greeted with a friendly smile, and beautiful displays. Lovely hardwood floors and brick walls backdrop the brightly colored display pieces featuring Itzy Ritzy baby accessories, children’s clothing such as Oopsie Daisey, and shoes for both kids and ladies such as L’Amour, Pierre Dumas, and Yellow Box. The aroma of Rewined Candles fills the air and beckons you to the display near the Corkcicle tumblers and SIC Drinkware.
An additional perk to this lovely establishment is that they offer custom embroidery and pet novelties and toys. Everything is beautifully spaced out so you don’t feel at all crowded by the merchandise.
When asked, “Why Varnville?” shop owner Jill Jones responds, “Because the location is well known and has an established retail history. Our desire was to bring a much-needed shopping experience to our hometown.”
An official grand opening will be coming soon, but don’t wait — stop in and see all that The Material Girls has to offer. They are currently open Thursday-Friday from 9 am – 5 pm and Saturday 9 am – 3 pm.
